Solar PV
In a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, sunlight generates DC electricity in solar cells which are assembled in solar panels. The panels are connected to an array which is connected to an inverter converting the DC electricity to AC electricity.
Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating is great from a comfort and aesthetical point of view, and it works very well with heat pumps as the system can operate at low temperatures. Better Planet design and install all types of underfloor systems from standard screed system to various solutions for suspended floors and low build-up retrofit solutions.
MVHR
In an MVHR system, fresh air from outside is brought into a property and supplied through ductwork to living rooms and bedrooms. Air is extracted from kitchens and bathrooms and exhausted from the property through another set of ductwork.
Battery Storage
Heat pumps and solar panels work well together in the sense that solar panels produce electricity and heat pumps consume electricity. However, there is a seasonality mismatch between the two products. A battery storage system is a great way to mitigate this problem.
Cooling with Heat Pumps
All heat pumps except exhaust air heat pumps can provide cooling in the summer.
Ground source systems can provide cooling even when the heat pump is not running by heat exchanging the heat transfer liquid from the ground (preferably boreholes) with the heating distribution system (typically underfloor heating or cooling ceiling panels).
System Integration
Here are some examples on how we can integrate different system to obtain higher efficiencies and savings.
